Artist Ellen Harvey is creating a Utopia Machine, with your help. . .

Harvey is producing a fictional composite patent drawing, with its individual components inspired by people’s ideas about what would make this world into a  utopia. To date, she has painted 60 submissions and she is accepting submissions for the duration of the exhibition.

The evolving artwork is on view in No Prior Art: Illustrations of Invention, a large-scale group exhibition taking place at the Los Angeles Central Library. This exhibition explores the nature of human creativity, invention at the meeting place of art and science, and celebrates the public library’s role as a resource for inventors and creators of all kinds. It will be on view at the Central Library’s Getty Gallery from September 14, 2024 through May 11, 2025, and is part of the Getty Foundation’s regionwide PST ART: Art & Science Collide initiative.E
